Adverts that Fail
Recently I’ve been watching a bit of TV out of boredom, flicking through the channels etc. when I came across a couple of adverts and couldn’t help but laugh at them – even when they weren’t supposed to be humorous. The ‘white diamond and lotus flower’ Bold 2 in 1 advert for a detergent is an example of an advert that fails. Why? Well, it says that your clothing would smell like white diamonds and lotus flowers after using this brand of detergent. Nothing seems wrong with that, until you realise that diamonds don’t smell of anything. False advertising? I think it could be.
Another funny advert that fails, whilst being very irritating, is the sofa advert with Nickleback – Rockstar playing in the background while everyone dances. A youngish woman with blonde hair is sat on the sofa, and when the line ‘big enough for ten plus me’ comes up, she puts her hand up to symbolise five and then points to herself. Hmm. Bit of confusion between five and ten there. Bless. Sometimes they don’t put her on the advert and they have a different one with the same song, and I can understand why
I’ll probably find more adverts that are funny for the wrong reasons soon, but I just thought I’d blog about those two particular ones to see if anyone else has noticed the things I’ve pointed out.In other news where site updates are concerned, a layout change has happened and I’ve used a template from Free-CSS-Templates.com and altered it to suit my site. Hopefully it looks okay in different browsers, I used Browsershots.org to check and the background is a slightly different shade to the images so it looks a bit dodgy, but hopefully people can see past that
P.S. Happy birthday to Emma!
