Afrika! Afrika!
First off, apologies for the lack of updates on my site, I've been busy recently going out and things - it is the summer holidays after all!Last night, I went to see a show called Afrika! Afrika! which was on at the Trafford Centre. We'd seen it advertised on the TV a lot and it looked really good, and my step-dad managed to get us free tickets from where he works to go and see it.
I'm so glad he managed to get us tickets to go because I really wanted to see this show, I'd not been to see one in ages and everyone on the radio was raving about it saying how fantastic it was, and how it was much better than the Cirque Du Soleil. When we managed to get to the Trafford Centre after a huge upheaval with traffic problems, we were lucky as we somehow managed to get there 45 mins before the show was due to start. Everything was set out in an African theme and it was a hundred times better than we ever imagined it'd be.
We got seats right near the front behind the VIP seats, which was great, and then waited for the show to begin. There were two Contortionists, one who was able to fit his whole body through a small tennis racket, and a woman who could make strange shapes with her body. A juggler, who had the ability to juggle nine balls and do tricks with them which we all thought was incredible and must require one hell of a lot of concentration, and lots of acrobatics involving backflips and making towers by standing on each other's shoulders and balancing. Street dancing was also involved, and a basketball game on those single-wheeled bike things where lots of tricks were performed.
The street dancing and the basketball game were my favourite parts of the show, but I thought all of it was fantastic, and it just kept getting better and better as it went on. I originally thought it'd all be of a traditional African theme, but it changed between modern and traditional all the way through and it made it really interesting to watch. Everyone involved was extremely talented and we all had a great time.
I'm gonna have to go now, but I wanted to tell you guys about the show and I'd definitely recommend it to anyone
P.S. Film Review of Studio 666 added!
